Vice President, Operational Resilience
Overview & Introduction:
Real Time Payments (RTP) International operates as a programme, within the Mastercard Real Time Payments portfolio, currently serving six live markets. With transaction volumes increasing substantially, the imperative for safe, resilient, reliable, and meticulously maintained services and products is critical-both in managing National Critical Infrastructure and fulfilling customer expectations for regulated local services, as well as upholding Mastercard's brand integrity.
To ensure sustained excellence, RTP International seeks a seasoned and strategic Director of Operational Resilience to fortify and advance our commitment to robust and continuous operations. The successful candidate will possess extensive expertise in implementing operational resilience frameworks within payment and regulated service contexts, alongside deep experience in risk management, business continuity, compliance, and crisis management. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the RTP International Operational Resilience Framework, including the establishment of relevant policies and standards.
Main Purpose of Role:
The VP of Operational Resilience is accountable for safeguarding the integrity and continuity of the organization's critical functions. This individual will represent RTP International's stance on operational resilience to senior executives and key external stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing and executing comprehensive strategies that align with the organization's objectives and regulatory requirements, identifying and mitigating risks, and overseeing the formulation and maintenance of effective business continuity plans. The position demands strategic acumen, decisive leadership, the ability to perform effectively under pressure, and adeptness at managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities:• Operational Resilience Frameworks: Develop, implement, and maintain a custom Operational Resilience Framework tailored to RTP International, ensuring alignment with Mastercard standards and applicable regulations. Continuously assess and refine the framework to address evolving risks and the regulatory environment.• Leadership and Strategy: Direct the operational resilience strategy to support program and business goals, providing guidance to senior management and fostering a resilient organizational culture.• Business Continuity: Oversee the creation and execution of comprehensive business continuity plans to maintain uninterrupted critical operations during disruptive events. Regularly test and update these plans for efficacy and relevance.• Training and Awareness: Design and deliver targeted training programs to enhance resilience capabilities and reinforce a culture of preparedness across all staff levels.• Compliance and Reporting: Ensure strict adherence to all operational resilience-related regulations and standards. Prepare detailed reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, documenting compliance and recommending improvements.• Collaboration: Partner with internal departments to embed resilience considerations into every function, and cultivate strong relationships with external partners to enable coordinated resilience strategies.• Risk Management: Participate in the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of operational and business risks. Develop and monitor mitigation strategies, adjusting as needed to address new and emerging threats.
Key Skills:• Strategic vision and foresight to anticipate challenges and develop long-term resilience plans.• Strong leadership and decision-making capability, including experience managing diverse teams and making timely, high-stakes decisions.• Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness while managing crises or working under pressure.• Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities to align with strategic goals.• Comprehensive knowledge of operational resilience frameworks and best practices.• Demonstrated success in business continuity planning and execution during organizational disruptions.• Expertise in crisis management and stakeholder communication during incident response.• Advanced skill in developing and delivering impactful training programs that prioritize organizational readiness.• Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and reporting best practices.• Superior collaboration and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.• High competency in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
About You:• Deep expertise in operational resilience frameworks and their practical implementation.• Proven leadership, capable of inspiring trust and making swift, informed decisions.• Effective multitasker able to prioritize tasks in line with organizational objectives.• Extensive experience in business continuity planning and delivery.• Skilled in designing and facilitating training focused on enhancing resilience.• Well-versed in regulatory compliance and reporting obligations.• Collaborative approach to integrating resilience across diverse teams and partnerships.• Strong risk management abilities, with a track record of reducing operational vulnerabilities.
