The Vice President of Legal sits at the nexus of FinQuery's legal, compliance, and transactional strategies as the company organically scales its platform, expands product and service offerings, and executes strategic transactions. As the senior-most professional within the legal function, you will build and run a legal operations function that delivers fast, high-quality, and rigorous support across corporate governance, commercial contracting, compliance, and transaction execution. You will bring strong negotiation skills and exceptional judgment to complex, novel, and high-stakes matters, exercising independent judgment on legal risk while partnering with the C-suite and shaping responsible artificial intelligence adoption across the business.

What You'll Do:
- Own customer contract strategy by partnering with Sales, RevOps, Customer Success, and Finance to align terms with revenue objectives
- Manage day-to-day contracting operations and the contracts attorney to maintain a 1 to 2 business day turnaround target
- Establish and lead the enterprise compliance program including insurance coverage oversight and risk reporting to the C-suite
- Partner with Information Security to ensure contracts, vendor relationships, and product commitments meet required security standards
- Lead legal strategy and execution for M&A, divestitures, and strategic transactions alongside private equity sponsors and executive leadership
- Assess and manage legal, regulatory, and contractual risk across the organization while providing clear analysis and options to executive leaders
- Direct legal strategy for international expansion including entity formation, cross-border compliance, and multi-jurisdiction employment law
- Personally negotiate high-value or high-risk contracts across customer, vendor, procurement, and partnership agreements
- Adopt AI tools into daily legal workflows and establish an AI governance framework for responsible deployment across the company
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on legal and regulatory considerations for AI-enabled platform features and data commercialization
- Oversee outside counsel relationships, legal spend allocation, and equity administration in partnership with Finance and HR
- Advise on multi-state employment law matters, workplace policy development, intellectual property strategy, and corporate governance
- Mentor and develop team members to expand internal legal capacity ahead of company growth
What You Bring:
- Juris Doctor degree with active bar admission in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction
- Minimum of 12 years of related legal experience including significant in-house experience at a technology or SaaS company
- Demonstrated track record of building efficient in-house legal operations and high-throughput contracting functions
- Proven experience leading M&A transactions, diligence, and integration in a private equity-backed environment
- History of serving as primary legal advisor to executive leadership, boards, and sponsor-level stakeholders
- Experience operating effectively within lean legal teams by leveraging technology, process design, and outside counsel
- Working knowledge of international entity structuring, cross-border compliance, data privacy frameworks, and multi-state employment law
- Proficiency with AI governance, AI-enabled legal tools, and emerging technology regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for executive and investor audiences
- Strategic thinking to anticipate legal and business risks prior to transactions and set impactful KPIs
- Executive judgment and communication to provide decisive counsel to C-suite and PE sponsors under tight timelines
- Negotiation and deal execution to drive complex commercial agreements, disputes, and M&A transactions to closing
- Resourcefulness and operational leverage to scale team capacity through technology and process design
- Cross-functional leadership to partner with Finance, Product, Engineering, and HR teams seamlessly
- Risk management to exercise sound independent judgment and present clear mitigation options on high-impact matters
- Direct management of the contracts attorney including workload allocation, development planning, and performance management
- Direct reporting line to the Chief Financial Officer with a weekly operational and risk review cadence
- Periodic touchpoints with the Board of Directors
