Team Overview
Part of the Global Investment Operations (GIO) umbrella, our Corporate Actions team has primary operating centers in Edinburgh (UK), Wilmington, Delaware (US), Gurgaon (India) and Singapore (APAC). Our objective is to lead and provide a high-quality Corporate Actions service assuring standard methodology through the application of governance and controls crafted to mitigate risk to the Firm and our Clients. We operate as a single, global entity around a robust and mature "pass-the-book" philosophy, allowing effective and controlled workload transition across our primary locations.
Role Responsibility
As the Head of East Asia Corporate Actions (VP), you will be based in Singapore, reporting to the APAC Head of Asset Services. Other than having operational oversight of the corporate actions event announcements and instruction processes, this role will provide One BlackRock support to global peers. You will also lead the overall Service and Oversight for APAC (including India) Corporate Actions.
Inspiring change to advance the Aladdin platform is key and you will lead processing and technology improvements to optimize the operational platform and deliver commercialization opportunities. Actively forging collaborative relationships with BlackRock's strategic partners and clients is essential. As a leader, you will guide your management team to enable long term strategic vision and build high performing teams. The focus is to scale in a risk-controlled environment, deliver on service and commercialization.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the Singapore, Taiwan and Japan teams responsible for event announcement and instruction management. This includes the publication of timely and accurate voluntary event records in Aladdin, and the transmission and confirmation of accurate instructions to custodians, prime brokers and lending brokers.
Proactively manage risk and controls, keeping controls parameters current.
Be an effective escalation point, owning the closure of all APAC (including India) Corporate Actions related service issues.
Provide management support and coverage for global functional teams when needed (One BlackRock).
Advance the Aladdin platform and support commercialization by delivering on local, regional, and global initiatives.
Develop automation and efficiency initiatives to provide a scalable platform and reduce risk in our business.
Keep abreast of industry changes and refresh processes post impact evaluation.
Develop and enable the people managers to develop into future leaders and to build highly motivated teams.
The candidate must possess the following attributes for success in this role:
At least 5 years of management experience in a leadership role specializing in Corporate Actions with a strong understanding of financial markets and investment management.
Thorough technical knowledge of the full corporate action lifecycle, across global equities, fixed income and derivatives.
Deep appreciation of the corporate actions risks and proven success around proactive identification, control, mitigation and escalation.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the brokerage and investment operations processes including trading, securities lending and settlement functions.
Strong people management lexperience with strategic foresight to enable proficient managers and lead high-performing teams.
Excellent analytical skills to identify problems and improve opportunities and implement timely solutions.
Consistent track record in delivering significant projects in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding communicator with influencing skills.
Service-oriented who forges collaborative relationships to deliver the optimal BlackRock solution.
Change agent who innovates, problem solves and implements new ideas.
Multitasker who works efficiently in a dynamic environment.
Flexible and agile, with the motivation to operate horizontally across different investment operations functions when needed.
Data Analytics skills preferred; coding knowledge (VBA, SQL, PYTHON, RPA) will be a plus.
