The Role

About this role

The Legal & Compliance (L&C) team seeks to ensure the firm satisfies its regulatory obligations, protects its reputation, and provides advice to and partners with the business to meet clients’ expectations by :

  • Actively participating in business decisions to foster our clients’ interests and assist the business to translate compliance into their daily work
  • Having client interests at the center of everything we do
  • Cultivating and enhancing the compliance culture within BlackRock
  • Providing thought leadership on the impact and implementation of regulation
  • Developing and fostering excellence within the Compliance team

The Employee Compliance team is part of Enterprise Compliance team within L&C and is focused on supporting and empowering our business colleagues globally to operate in compliance with key Compliance policies and procedures. In this capacity the team operate a number of processes that underpin many day-to-day compliance activities. Key enterprise-wide policies and processes include Personal Trading, Gifts & Entertainment, Outside Activities, US Political Contributions, and Business Integrity. The Core Compliance team operates, coordinates, and supports this daily.

Role Description:

The Vice President – Employee Compliance (India) is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the operational stability, risk governance, and control outcomes of global Employee Compliance programs delivered from India, with a strong focus on personal trading compliance monitoring and technology-enabled operations.

This is a process and risk ownership role. The incumbent is encouraged to ensure audit-ready execution at scale, make defensible risk decisions, and drive the evolution of Employee Compliance through automation, data, and AI-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Own operational health and control effectiveness of global Personal Trading and Personal Investments monitoring programs.
  • Act as accountable risk owner for complex and precedent-setting personal trading cases, including senior employee matters.
  • Ensure consistent decisions on blocking issues with well-documented, policy-aligned rationale.
  • Partner with Policy, Legal, and regional Compliance teams to translate policy into operational guidance.
  • Own volumes, ageing, SLAs, backlog, and peak management across assigned Employee Compliance processes.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, procedures, and evidence and Lead Internal Audit and regulatory examination responses related to Employee Compliance.
  • Lead adoption of automation and AI across Employee Compliance processes.
  • Partner with Technology to enhance supervising systems, exception handling, analytics, and audit evidence generation, improve scalability and consistency without weakening controls.
  • Lead and develop and senior team members in India to build a high performing team.
Qualification
  • 8-10 years of compliance experience at a financial services firm, experience with an asset management firm is a plus
  • Demonstrated ownership of personal trading or employee the conflict-of-interest programs.
  • 4+ years people leadership experience, leading high performing teams in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Strong understanding of control frameworks, escalation governance, and audit expectations.
  • Ability to clarify tasks and requirements, organize time, and manage workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong collaboration skills with an ability to influence stakeholders across functions and regions
  • Strong written/oral communication, organizational, and social skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to outline a project and manage to completion while interacting with various parts of BlackRock
  • Organized and diligent with strong time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficiency in analyzing large, complex datasets, lead management reporting (MI), dashboards, and actionable insights
