Vehicle Test Engineer – Mechanical & Hardware will be responsible for testing and validating vehicle systems, mechanical components, and hardware on prototype and test vehicles. The role requires a Mechanical/Automotive Engineering background with strong hands-on experience in vehicle hardware, including inspection, troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, component replacement, and root-cause analysis. The position will support vehicle preparation, functional/reliability testing, hardware issue investigation, and collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, EE, ADAS, and other engineering teams to ensure vehicle readiness and testing requirements are met.
- Perform testing, validation and verification of vehicle mechanical systems, components and hardware on prototype and test vehicles.
- Prepare vehicles and hardware for testing; conduct functional, performance, reliability and durability tests.
- Perform hands-on inspection, troubleshooting, repair, replacement and adjustment of mechanical components and vehicle hardware when issues occur.
- Analyze test results and failure symptoms, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and recommend and verify corrective actions.
- Support prototype/test vehicle preparation and investigation of vehicle quality and field issues.
- Prepare test reports, issue reports and test records, and track vehicle/test readiness.
RequirementsRequirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive testing/validation, vehicle development, mechanical testing, prototype/test vehicles or automotive R&D.
- Strong hands-on experience with mechanical and vehicle hardware, including inspection, troubleshooting, repair, replacement and adjustment.
- Good understanding of automotive mechanical systems such as chassis, suspension, steering, braking, body and mechanical components.
- Experience in test planning, test execution, failure analysis and root cause analysis.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications, and use measurement/test equipment.
- Good English communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues, prepare reports and work with international engineering teams.
- Willingness to work hands-on with test vehicles and travel for testing activities when required.
- Experience in an automotive OEM, Tier-1 supplier, R&D or vehicle validation environment.
- Experience with EV/BEV, prototype vehicles or vehicle quality investigation.
- Knowledge of DVP&R, FMEA, 8D, 5 Why/RCA.
- Experience with vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition or test data analysis.
- Knowledge of CAD tools such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks or Creo for drawing review and basic engineering support.
