Position Summary:
The Vehicle Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing ski area vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation throughout the winter and summer seasons. This position supports mountain operations by maintaining snowcats, trucks, loaders, snowmobiles, utility vehicles, and other fleet equipment used across the resort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and mountain equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues
- Conduct inspections to ensure equipment safety and operational readiness
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Assist with emergency repairs during operational hours
- Repair and service snow grooming equipment, snowmobiles, ATVs, trucks, and heavy machinery
- Operate tools, lifts, welding equipment, and diagnostic systems safely
- Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards
- Support seasonal equipment preparation and off-season maintenance projects
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical school certification or related mechanical training preferred
- Experience maintaining diesel and gasoline engines preferred
- Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment and fleet vehicles
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in winter weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Experience:
- Previous ski resort or heavy equipment maintenance experience
- Experience with snowcats or mountain operation equipment
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance software systems
Skills Required
