INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned Vehicle Flagman to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The selected candidate will be responsible for controlling vehicle and pedestrian movement around work areas, access routes, and site activities. Ensure clear communication, safe traffic flow, and protection of personnel, vehicles, and equipment in accordance with site traffic-management requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Control vehicle and pedestrian movement around work zones, access roads, and work fronts.
- Provide clear hand signals, visual signals, and radio communication to vehicle operators.
- Guide vehicles during reversing, maneuvering, loading/unloading, and restricted-area access.
- Establish and maintain safe exclusion zones, barriers, and controlled access points.
- Monitor traffic conditions and prevent unauthorized access or unsafe vehicle movement.
- Coordinate with drivers, equipment operators, lifting teams, supervisors, and work crews.
- Ensure adequate visibility, positioning, lighting, and communication while performing flagging duties.
- Stop vehicle movement immediately when unsafe conditions, personnel hazards, or obstructions are identified.
- Support safe access during construction, maintenance, lifting, instrumentation, and ICSS activities.
- Report traffic hazards, near misses, damaged barriers, and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain required traffic-control equipment, signs, barriers, and communication devices.
- Comply with site traffic plans, PTW, HSE requirements, PPE, and Company safety procedures.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
- Valid trade/competency certificate for the assigned grade and task; site authorization as required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial construction or maintenance, including at least 1 year on Oil & Gas sites.
- Recognized training in site traffic control, vehicle signaling, and flagman duties.
- Competent in standard vehicle hand signals, radio communication, and traffic-control methods.
- Strong awareness of visibility, exclusion zones, blind spots, reversing hazards, and pedestrian safety.
- Ability to safely control movement of light/heavy vehicles and mobile equipment within assigned areas.
- Good communication and coordination with drivers, operators, supervisors, HSE, and work crews.
- Familiarity with site traffic plans, access controls, barriers, signage, and emergency procedures.
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in industrial and construction environments.
- Knowledge of PPE, PTW, HSE, and site safety requirements.
