INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned Lifting Banksman to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The selected candidate will be responsible for directing and controlling the movement of cranes, vehicles, and mobile equipment during lifting and maneuvering activities. Ensure clear communication with operators, maintains exclusion zones, and support safe execution of lifting operations in accordance with approved plans and site requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct crane, vehicle, and mobile-equipment movements using approved hand signals and radio communication.
- Maintain continuous and clear communication with operators during maneuvering, lifting, positioning, and lowering.
- Establish and control exclusion zones around lifting and equipment movement areas.
- Identify and control blind spots, overhead obstructions, personnel hazards, and restricted clearances.
- Guide equipment safely through congested areas, access routes, and work zones.
- Support lifting and rigging operations in accordance with approved lift plans and instructions.
- Verify the movement path is clear of personnel, obstacles, and unauthorized equipment before movement.
- Stop operations immediately when communication is lost or unsafe conditions develop.
- Coordinate with Lifting Supervisor, Rigger, Crane Operator, Lifting Engineer, Construction, and HSE.
- Maintain appropriate signage, barriers, lighting, and communication equipment for assigned activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment conflicts, near misses, and deviations to the responsible supervisor.
- Comply with approved lifting procedures, PTW, HSE requirements, PPE, and site rules.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
- Valid banksman/signaler trade or competency certificate for the assigned grade and task; site authorization as required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial construction or maintenance, including at least 1 year on Oil & Gas sites.
- Recognized banksman/signaler competency for crane and mobile-equipment operations.
- Proficient in standard lifting hand signals and radio communication.
- Strong knowledge of blind-spot control, exclusion zones, lifting paths, and safe equipment maneuvering.
- Experience working around cranes, heavy vehicles, mobile equipment, and lifting operations.
- Ability to maintain clear communication with operators, riggers, lifting supervisors, and work crews.
- Strong awareness of suspended-load hazards, pinch points, line-of-fire risks, and dropped objects.
- Ability to stop operations when unsafe conditions or communication failures occur.
- Knowledge of PTW, lifting procedures, HSE, PPE, and site requirements.
