Fits mechanical parts and subassemblies into different types of machinery and products. Conducts measures of products and adjusts them. Responsible for upkeep of workstation. Works according to established trade and shop practices. Typically has 0-2 years of experience and works under close supervision.

We pay an additional $1.50 per hour for shift differential

Job Responsibilities: below is a general description of the essential functions of this job. Disassembles and assembles fittings on tank cars. Tests tank car, fittings, and valves to reveal possible defects. Rebuilds tank car fittings, valves and tests them using specified methods. Identifies leaks in coils for repair using specified procedures. Conducts single car brake test when required. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Must pass the applicable welding test as prescribed by the company
• Have a High School Diploma or GED
• Demonstrate job related computational knowledge; for example, be able to read a ruler

Environmental Conditions:

Moderate to heavy physical effort involves climbing, ascending, or descending ladders, lifting and carrying tools and equipment.

Working Conditions:

• Moderate to heavy physical effort involved. Lifts and carries necessary equipment to car to perform operation. Climbs, walks, and balances on top of car while welding.
• Possibility of exposure to x-ray radiation hazards.
• Must follow prescribed safety rules to avoid possible injury.
• Uses hand tools and equipment to chip and grind off excess weld slag or spatter.
