UW Assistent

In this role, you will provide essential support to our Underwriters, helping to deliver outstanding service to brokers, maintain accurate underwriting records, support portfolio monitoring, and contribute to the overall success and profitability of our Marine portfolio. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the underwriting and operational management of a diverse portfolio of Marine risks. Working closely with Underwriters, Brokers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure the smooth administration of new and renewal business, maintain high-quality underwriting data, and assist in portfolio analysis and reporting activities.
 

The role has two primary areas of focus:

• Supporting the Underwriting team through policy administration, broker servicing, data management and underwriting operations.
• Assisting with portfolio reporting, management information, premium tracking and underwriting performance analysis.
   

This position offers excellent exposure to all aspects of marine underwriting and provides the opportunity to develop technical, analytical and market-facing skills within a specialist international insurance business.
 

• Assist Underwriters with new business, renewals, endorsements and policy amendments.
• Prepare underwriting documentation, quotations and policy records.
• Maintain underwriting systems and ensure accurate data entry and record keeping.
• Liaise with brokers to obtain outstanding information and support efficient processing of business.
• Support underwriting and exposure analysis through data gathering and quality control.
• Produce underwriting reports, management information and portfolio analysis.
• Ensure underwriting files comply with regulatory, audit and internal governance requirements.
• Monitor key underwriting performance metrics and support portfolio reviews.
   

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Respond promptly to broker enquiries and provide a high standard of service.
• Help ensure a positive and professional broker experience throughout the underwriting process.
   

• Analyse underwriting, premium and claims data to identify trends and support business decisions.
• Produce regular management information and portfolio performance reports.
• Support exposure analysis and portfolio management initiatives.
• Assist with data quality reviews and reporting improvements.
• Help maintain portfolio dashboards and management information tools.
   

• Support daily underwriting operations and administrative activities.
• Work closely with underwriting, claims, finance and operations teams.
• Participate in team projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and process development activities.
   

• Continue developing technical insurance and underwriting knowledge.
• Attend internal and external training sessions as required.
• Progress towards professional qualifications where appropriate.
• Support the development and training of colleagues when required.
   

We are seeking an organised and motivated individual who enjoys working with data, has excellent attention to detail, and is keen to develop a career in underwriting.
 

The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, building relationships with brokers and colleagues, and taking ownership of administrative and reporting responsibilities within a busy underwriting environment.
 

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and reporting.

• Previous experience within insurance, underwriting support or broker operations.
• Experience working with policy administration or underwriting systems.
• Knowledge of marine, cargo or specialty insurance.
• Experience producing management information or portfolio reporting.
• Progress towards, or willingness to undertake, professional insurance qualifications.

• Experience within insurance, underwriting support, broker operations or policy administration would be advantageous.
• Confident working with large volumes of data and maintaining data accuracy.
• Experience in marine, specialty or commercial insurance is beneficial but not essential.
• German and English language skills would be advantageous given the scope of the role.
