Position Summary

Penn Foster Group is looking for a User Experience Designer to help create intuitive, engaging, and accessible digital learning experiences. In this role, you’ll work across the full UX design process—from understanding user needs and translating research into insights to designing and refining solutions.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, educators, curriculum designers, and developers to create experiences that support learner success and align with technical and business goals. You’ll also use user feedback, research findings, and analytics to continuously improve the learning experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Apply design and systems thinking to define problems, develop hypotheses, synthesize research, and identify experience principles that guide design decisions.
  • Help plan and facilitate workshops, co-creation sessions, and collaborative activities that support ideation, alignment, and shared understanding.
  • Communicate design concepts through sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and presentations.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from users, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to improve solutions.
  • Partner with engineering to develop design specifications, assess feasibility, support sprint planning, and perform design quality reviews.
  • Help execute and evolve a cohesive UX vision across multiple channels and products, ensuring experiences are consistent, scalable, and user-centered.
  • Stay current with UX tools, methods, technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and organizational priorities while maintaining a strong focus on user needs.
What You Bring
  • Experience applying user-centered design principles to create intuitive, engaging, and accessible digital experiences for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with research and data-driven design, including analyzing user or learner feedback and using insights to inform design decisions.
  • Understanding of learning management systems, content management systems, structured content, and core technology concepts such as APIs, databases, and dynamic systems.
  • Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A strong foundation in color, typography, layout, composition, prototyping, and scalable design systems.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex design concepts clearly.
  • Experience documenting interaction designs, including user flows, states, and edge cases, and supporting accurate implementation by engineering teams.
  • A collaborative, curious, and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
Additional Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A portfolio demonstrating applied experience in modern UX and digital product design.
  • One to two years of experience in digital product design and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience creating prototypes and using research or data to inform design decisions and iterations.
