In this role, you will be a part of the Upstream Process Development team and report to the Manager responsible for selecting hosts and developing fermentation processes.

This position is part of the Upstream Process Development team located in Madison, WI and will be an on-site position.

Responsibilities:

  • The USPD team is responsible for the development and implementation of expression and bioreactor methodologies that can be successfully transferred to manufacturing operations.
  • Project lead on protein expression projects, buffer and media preparation, the DASGIP parallel (high throughput) bioreactor systems, benchtop bioreactors,
  • Support/operate engineering batches, incubator operations, and data management and analysis and participate in technical interactions with clients.
  • With limited guidance, the Scientist II evaluates, selects, and applies appropriate scientific techniques and procedures.
  • Review and implement new technologies to support the USPD team to remain at the cutting-edge in the field of Upstream Processes.

Qualifications

  • BS in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field and 4+ years of experience or MS in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on knowledge of High Throughput Fermenters/Bioreactors
  • Strong working knowledge of cell biology for protein expression
  • Familiarity with technical transfer of complex upstream processes to ISO/CGMP large-scale operations
  • Experience with typical protein analytical testing
  • Experience with microbial recombinant protein expression systems
