About this opportunity:
We are looking for a senior manager with strong expertise/hands-on on UNIX & Cloud Operations and leading a team of UNIX/Linux engineers responsible for on-prem, hybrid, and cloud-hosted UNIX/Linux platforms, container platforms (OpenShift), and private cloud infrastructure (OpenStack).
This role blends people leadership, technical ownership, and cloud operational governance, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure aligned to business outcomes.
What you will do:
- Line manager for UNIX/Linux and cloud engineers, including performance management, career development, and succession planning.
- Own end-to-end operations for UNIX/Linux platforms across on-prem, private cloud (Openshift/Openstack), and public cloud (Azure/OCI/etc.).
- Build cloud-ready skills within the team through coaching, training, and stretch assignments.
- Foster a culture of automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Foster a high-performance and collaborative team culture
- Ensure availability, performance, capacity planning, and resilience of cloud-hosted workloads.
- Lead incident response for cloud-based outages and complex hybrid failures.
- Own change, incident, problem, and availability management across hybrid infrastructure.
- Manage cloud vendors, managed service providers, and platform support contracts.
The skills you bring:
- Proven people-management experience in a 24×7 operations environment and strong technical leadership skills.
- Strong grasp of ITIL processes and cloud operational best practices.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and crisis leadership skills.
- Strong skills on automations.
- Strong and advanced hands-on/expertise administering RHEL, SUSE, AIX, Solaris (at least two).
- Strong experience with Redhat Openshift, Openstack, OCI (at least one; multi-cloud preferred).
- Deep understanding of:
- Compute, storage, networking in cloud environments
- Cloud identity and access management (IAM)
- Cloud security and shared responsibility model
- Exposure to cloud migration strategies (rehost, re-platform, refactor).
- Understanding of cloud cost management and optimization.
