Underwriting Supervisor
$67,630 - $86,567 / year
Job Level - Manager
Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.
What You Will Be Doing:
The Underwriting Supervisor has overall responsibility for assigned underwriting unit. Supervises and coordinates staffing, work assignments, employee performance and productivity of personnel. Exercises underwriting expertise in determining statutory requirements and acceptability for individual applications, requests for policy changes and exceptions, evaluation and revision of department processes, billing, money handling and bad debt processes and identifying physical inspection needs to confirm physical hazards, liability exposures and valuations as appropriate. Performs personnel functions including hiring, employee development and guidance, performance appraisals, work reviews and salary reviews. The Underwriting Supervisor participates in various projects, committees, meetings and training programs at the Company and Department levels.

- Demonstrates superior customer service skills when dealing with both internal and external customers.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting regulations, laws, policies, and procedures.
