About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Underwriting Assistant to join our Singapore Insurance team, supporting new and existing business within Everest International Insurance. This hybrid position allows flexibility, with the option to work remotely two days per week. As an Underwriting Assistant, you’ll report to the Underwriting Assistant Team Leader and closely collaborate with various Underwriting teams across multiple lines of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support underwriters in daily operations, contributing to the achievement of portfolio targets across multiple lines of business.

  • Summarize slip terms and conditions, calculate premiums and exposures, and ensure accurate entry of submissions, quotes, risks, endorsements, and transactions in the Everest Underwriting System(s) for accurate management, statistical, and regulatory reporting.

  • Perform data checks to ensure underwriting data accuracy, and liaise with our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) team to ensure data is correctly entered into our systems.

  • Store all risk information and correspondence in our document repository, ensuring a complete audit trail of all business activities.
    Facilitate the peer review, risk entry, and data verification processes, ensuring all underwriting information is complete and submitted within specified timeframes.

  • Maintain tools that support compliance, sanctions, fraud, and financial crime checks both pre-bind and post-bind.

  • Provide administrative support in areas such as credit control queries, data quality, and process improvement, collaborating closely with the Operations team.

  • Offer support to underwriting teams across other business classes when necessary.

  • Perform any other ad hoc tasks as defined and agreed with the Head of Operations and Team Leader.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to interact with external stakeholders professionally and build positive working relationships.

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in underwriting and facultative insurance & reinsurance processes, with some experience in an underwriting support role preferred.

  • Line of Business Knowledge: Experience in key commercial lines such as Energy & Construction, WICA, Marine, Aviation, Financial Lines, CPR, and A&H. Familiarity with reading and interpreting slips in these lines is essential.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks effectively in a high-paced, dynamic environment

  • Initiative & Professionalism: Demonstrates self-motivation, integrity, and the ability to work independently while upholding high ethical standards.

  • Customer Service Orientation: Committed to providing a high level of customer service as a core value.
