UK/International VAT Manager

Provide support in managing the VAT compliance for the companies UK and overseas entities.
Deal with ad hoc VAT queries raised.
Support Head of Indirect Taxes EMEA and APAC - Indirect Taxes as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

UK VAT compliance

Managing the preparation of the UK VAT return for the companies of the VAT Group on quarterly basis.Preparation of the return involves various tasks, and these are noted below:

• Review of revenue invoices to ensure that correct VAT treatment is applied to services supplied.
• Allocation of revenue per product type.
• Detailed analysis of VAT group expenditure.
• Review of proxy that is used for partial exemption purposes.
• Completion of VAT return based on the Partial exemption method.
• Reconciliation of irrecoverable VAT per product type.
• Online submission of the VAT return by deadline.
• Arranging VAT payment within required timescale.
• Preparation of the VAT payment journal
• Communication with the business and treasury team regarding VAT payments

Non-UK VAT Compliance

Review and when required, preparation of the VAT returns for non-UK companies on timely basis. It involves various tasks, and these are noted below :

• Review of revenue invoices to ensure that correct VAT treatment is applied to services supplied.
• Detailed analyse of expenditure.
• Engaging external advisors regarding online submission of the VAT return by deadline.
• Assistance in arranging VAT journal and payment within required timescale.
• Preparation of EC Sales List for the companies EU entities.
• Calculation of VAT position for a separate standing alone group based on agreed partial exemption method and arranging for VAT payments being made between entities in accordance with agreed timescales.

Other:

• Managing the preparation of the Group irrecoverable VAT accruals.
• Review and oversight of preparation of the Group VAT Reconciliation on a monthly basis, highlighting and investigating any discrepancies.
• Prepare the annual budget with regards to irrecoverable VAT.
• Provide assistance to the Head of Indirect Taxes EMEA and APAC on VAT matters as required.

Leadership:

• Leading the local VAT team, including provide guidance on how to resolve VAT issues, technical guidance.
• Provide tax technical and leadership support to the local VAT team.
• Provide VAT trainings to local vat team and help achieve process efficiencies.
• Collaboration with other teams (AP, FAS, LFO) within the business to ensure that a good relationship is built from the VAT perspective, including Ad hoc project work collaborating with other departments such as Controllership, accounts payable, LFO, external advisors as appropriate.
• Managing the Local VAT team workload timely manner, by hosting regular team meetings and reporting any issues to Sr Manager /Head of Indirect Taxes EMEA and APAC.
• Providing support to Head of Indirect Taxes and Head of Corporate Taxes when required
• Providing guidance on the VAT codes to AP/Revenue team when required.
• Excellent communication skills, strategic and innovative thinking.
• Excellent problem resolving skills.

Required Qualifications

• An individual with 10+ years of working experience in the UK/International VAT compliances.
• Possess excellent UK/International VAT knowledge, who manages the VAT compliance of the group in the most efficient manner.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills are required for this role, as is an attention to detail, to ensure that VAT compliance is managed on a timely basis, to an outstanding standard with clear back up documentation.
• Excellent people leader skills, ability to multitask, able to execute the VAT compliance tasks along with leading people.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work a part of a team as well as on their own is required.
• The individual should be keen, enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to get involved in issues.
• In addition, the individual should be interested in understanding how the VAT interacts in a fund management and banking business.
• Excellent Interpersonal and team management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Person having rich work experience in both Indirect and Direct tax (corporate tax) compliance for UK/International entities.
• Strong Accounting and Tax background
