Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for 1 Part-Time Receptionist in the United Community Centers Division. The part-time receptionist provides welcoming, professional front-desk coverage while supporting building security, visitor management, and day-to-day office operations. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, customer-service oriented, comfortable interacting with diverse audiences, and able to exercise sound judgment while balancing reception, security, and administrative responsibilities. This is a 15 - 20 hour a week, afternoon/evening position .
Principal Duties:
- Serve as the primary point of contact at the front desk, welcoming staff, visitors, vendors, and community members in a professional and courteous manner.
- Disseminate information on center programming and other services provided by CHLDC and our external Community partners. Make suggestions and referrals when necessary.
- Monitor access to the facility by verifying visitors, maintaining visitor/sign-in logs, issuing badges or access credentials, and ensuring unauthorized individuals do not enter restricted areas.
- Support front-desk security by monitoring building activity, responding to safety or security concerns, following established emergency procedures, and promptly escalating incidents to appropriate leadership.
- Maintain an organized, welcoming, and professional reception area, ensuring that shared spaces are appropriately stocked and presentable.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, schedules, and administrative documents related to front-desk operations, visitors, deliveries, facilities, and office activities.
- Assist UCC Division Director and Program Directors with administrative tasks.
- Perform data entry and guide other staff who enter data in the database.
- Provide logistical support to the UCC Division Director regarding reservation of spaces. Assist with meeting and event logistics, including preparing rooms, coordinating visitor access, setting up supplies, and ensuring spaces are secured and restored afterward.
- Answer and direct incoming calls, respond to general inquiries, receive and distribute mail and deliveries, and manage front-desk communications.
- Provide day-to-day office management support, including ordering and maintaining office supplies, coordinating basic facility needs, and communicating maintenance or repair issues to UCC Division Director.
- All other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- HS Diploma required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Computer literate.
- BA or AA degree is a plus.
- Experience with Gsuite, Canva, DYCDconnect, a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish/Bengali/Creole French) a plus.
Compensation:
- $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on educational and experience level.
- Access to professional development provided by CHLDC and/or external providers.
- All part-time employees are eligible to participate in the agency’s 403b Tax Deferred Retirement Investment Plan.
- In addition, all part-time employees are eligible to participate in the agency’s Commuter Flexible Spending Plan.
- CHLDC also follows the New York City Earned Sick Time Act .
