We make reliable AI for complex environments
The Role
As a UAV Operations Specialist at Intelic, you will train users on the Nexus software, gather operational insights, and ensure training materials are current. You will travel to observe live operations, support product development, and deliver demonstrations to military clients.
Summary Generated by Built In

At Intelic, we build advanced software for unmanned systems in the defense sector. Based in Amsterdam, we are a fast-growing team of engineers and defense experts developing Nexus — an intelligence platform that gives unmanned systems the speed, coordination, and reliability that critical missions demand. We work directly with military end users in active operational environments, and that frontline connection is at the core of everything we build.

Why this role exists

Nexus is being used in the field every day — by operators who depend on it in high-stakes, fast-moving environments. As we scale across Ukrainian units, Dutch MoD units and NATO partners, we need someone who can own how MoD’s get trained and how Nexus is tested, and continuously improved from an operational perspective - and who can build the capability for it to keep working without us in the room .

This role sits at the intersection of product, field operations, and validation. You will become Intelic's deepest operational expert on Nexus, make sure our training reflects real-world usage, and act as the link between what happens in the field and how we develop and deliver the product.

What you will own
  • Become the go-to Nexus expert within Field Operations — across all features, platforms, and configurations

  • Design and deliver Nexus training for operators and end users, including Ukrainian units, Dutch MoD and NATO partners — from foundational operator skills to advanced scenario-based exercises

  • Build local capability that lasts. Run train-the-trainer programs so units can keep training themselves, assess whether training actually changed outcomes, and iterate — so Intelic's reach scales without scaling headcount.

  • Own adoption for your assigned MoD’s and units. Design and run adoption activities that fit its operational and cultural context, understand what drives and blocks operator engagement and data contribution, and use that to improve both.

  • Build and continuously update training materials in close collaboration with the product and validation team, ensuring content reflects the latest software version and real-world usage

  • Travel to Ukraine periodically to observe how Nexus is used in live conditions, monitor training quality, and bring frontline insights back into materials and product development

  • Act as a structured link between Field Operations, Product, and Validation — feeding operational observations into development cycles and pressure-testing new features before they reach end users

  • Support the Business team by delivering Nexus demonstrations to MoD clients and defense partners, translating technical capabilities into scenarios that resonate with military decision-makers

  • Develop hands-on proficiency across multiple UAV platforms relevant to Intelic's portfolio, and stay current on how they are actually employed in active conflict — the TTPs and countermeasures that shape real use.

What we are looking for
  • Genuine interest in UAVs and their operational use in current conflicts — you follow developments in the field, you understand why it matters, and you want to be part of it.

  • Military background or operational experience is a strong plus — showing up with credibility in front of Ukrainian and NATO units makes a real difference in this role.

  • Experience training or transferring knowledge, formally or informally

  • Familiarity with C2 / BMS or mission planning tools (e.g. Mission Planner, QGroundControl or equivalent).

  • A real feel for how drones are used in high-stakes, contested environments — jamming, spoofing, time pressure, improvisation.

  • Willing and able to travel to Ukraine and other risk-adjacent environments

  • Hands-on flight experience across one or more platforms (FPV, VTOL, Fixed Wing, Heavy Copter) is a strong plus.

  • Fluent English; Dutch and/or Ukrainian are a plus

You will thrive here if
  • Working with military people is the point — you are drawn to that environment, you understand how soldiers think, and building trust with operators is something you actually care about

  • You are driven by a sense of purpose beyond the job itself — you want to contribute to a stronger, more capable Europe, and this role gives you a direct, visible way to do that

  • You are comfortable building things from zero — there is no playbook yet, and you will write it

  • You can operate with a lot of autonomy, ask the right questions, and move without waiting to be told

  • You are genuinely curious about the technology and want to understand it deeply enough to train others on it effectively

Why join Intelic
  • Real ownership. You own how Intelic delivers — not just a single project, but the system that makes training and adoption work across teams and partners

  • Shape the company. We are building our delivery function from the ground up. How you work becomes how we work

  • See your decisions in the field. Your training programs and product input directly affect how Nexus gets deployed in real operations

  • Learn fast. Direct partner contact, cross-functional ownership, and a team that takes craft seriously

  • The mission is real. We build technology that makes Europe safer. That is not a tagline

What we offer

At Intelic, you will be part of an ambitious scale-up where teamwork, learning and impact drive everything we do. Growth happens quickly here, giving you the chance to take ownership and shape your career from the start. We build together and back our people with benefits that support life in and out of work.
