In ALTEN we are looking for an RWD Concept Engineer to drive the feasibility and design of rear-wheel drive systems for electric vehicles. You will evaluate FWD vs. RWD trade-offs, design rear axles, and ensure integration with suspension, chassis, and battery systems. This role is critical for defining the vehicle’s traction architecture and requires a strong analytical mindset and cross-functional collaboration.
🔧 Key Responsibilities:- Lead feasibility studies for RWD vs. FWD configurations, including axle durability, shaft angles, and packaging constraints.
- Develop detailed designs for rear axles, half-shafts, and driveline components.
- Collaborate with chassis, thermal, and battery teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Create decision-support materials (trade-off matrices, risk assessments) for leadership reviews.
- Document assumptions, interfaces, and dependencies to guide engineering decisions.
- Support prototyping and testing of RWD concepts.
Requirements✅ Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in driveline, axle, or vehicle architecture design (automotive/EV preferred).
- Expertise in CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE (mandatory for 3D modeling and assembly).
- Experience with driveline simulation tools (AVL Cruise, CarSim) and durability analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex engineering trade-offs.
- Fluent English (technical writing and presentation skills).
- Management skills: Ability to lead small teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and manage project timelines.
- Experience with EV skateboard architectures or modular driveline systems.
- Knowledge of NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) considerations in driveline design.
- Familiarity with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
