Brief Summary

The Tube Line Operator – Level 7 position requires proficiency in all the duties of the Line operation such as burnishing, straightening, sawing, and seam weld inspection.  In addition, the Level 7 Operator must be proficient in the operation of the big wheel, former and the shear.  The Level 7 position is also responsible for minor maintenance of machines and general housekeeping.  The incumbent operates overhead crane, plate blaster, and forklift and maintains the tube line equipment.

Essential Functions

• Operates forklift to move material in the shop areas
• Operate various machines within the department, including the former and the shear
• Perform various other duties requested by the supervisor to ensure customer requests are met
• Maintain a productive working environment to manufacture high quality Valmont products in safe and efficient manner
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on all equipment in assigned areas
• Must be able to successfully operate all machines on the Tubeline: Big Wheel, Former, Burnisher, Shear, Buffline, Saw, and Straightener

Important Details

• Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
• Perform various other duties requested by the supervisor to ensure customer requests are met
• This position reports to the Small Pole department’s Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant work experience
• Perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
• Pass a forklift test from Valmont’s safety department
• Read a tape measure
• The ability to prioritize work in order and complete deadlines
• Read and follow written and verbal instructions
• The ability to work through and solve practical problems
• The ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver on-time, high quality results
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 10 pounds

Highly Qualified Candidates

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 2-3 years of previous experience operating manufacturing machinery is preferred
• Perform welding repairs to seam splits on the manufactured tubes
• Previous hands-on welding experience in a professional environment
• 8+ years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives
