Trusts & Estates Associate (3-5 Years)
Philadelphia, PA
We are seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our Philadelphia Estates & Trusts practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in estate planning, trust and estate administration, and taxation, with an interest in working on sophisticated planning matters for high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. Exposure to closely held business planning, business succession planning, and related tax issues is preferred.
Qualifications:
- J.D. required; LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required
- Pennsylvania Bar admission
- 3 to 5 years of experience in trusts and estates, estate planning, estate and trust administration, or related tax planning
- Working knowledge of federal estate, gift, and income tax principles
- Experience drafting estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related instruments
- Strong analytical, drafting, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage assignments independently while working collaboratively with partners and senior attorneys
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in advising high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, and trust and estate administration
- Draft and revise a variety of estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related agreements
- Support business succession planning and estate planning for closely held business owners
- Analyze estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and income tax issues and assist in implementing tax-efficient planning strategies
- Collaborate with corporate and transactional attorneys on matters involving business ownership, restructuring, and liquidity events
- Work closely with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals to implement planning recommendations
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda regarding trusts, estates, and tax matters
- Assist with estate and trust administration matters, including fiduciary guidance and beneficiary communications
