Position Overview: The Firm is seeking to add an Associate to its Trusts & Estates team in our Battery Park, NYC or Uniondale, Long Island offices. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced attorney to step into an established trusts and estates practice with an existing client base and significant responsibility from day one. The role will oversee the preparation of wills and other wealth transfer documents for clients with varying family circumstances and levels of wealth.
Job Duties:
- Lead and advise clients and families on customized estate planning and wealth transfer strategies, probate proceedings and planning of complex estates.
- Draft, review, and oversee estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and related planning tools.
- Manage all aspects of trust and estate administration.
- Manage the client experience from initial consultation through drafting, signing, and follow-up.
- Maintain knowledge of estate planning, tax, and asset protection developments to enable thoughtful legal guidance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in trust and estate planning.
- JD degree required with excellent academic credentials.
- LLM in tax a plus but not required.
- Admitted and in good standing in New York State.
- Tax, special needs planning and elder law experience are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong professional judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external clients.
- Proactiveness, resourcefulness, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and multi-task required.
Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for this role is $160,000-$190,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. We offer a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package and a collaborative, friendly environment.
