The Academic Success Advisor will provide access to tutoring, advice and assistance in postsecondary course selection, assist students with information on financial aid programs, scholarships and assistance in completing financial aid applications, as well as provide education and services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy and assist students in applying for admission to graduate and professional programs. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in education and experience working with first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities.

DUTIES:
- -Advise and provide holistic support to first-generation, income-eligible, and students with disabilities
- -Assist in student recruitment, retention, and outreach; developing and implementing policies, services, and activities which lead to student success at the university level
- -Assist with assessment and evaluation of program activities and services
- -Adhere to data privacy involving students' education records, including personally identifiable and directory information
- -Use Learning Management Systems such EAB Navigate and Student Access Database to keep detailed notes on student meetings and interventions
- -Collaborate with other campus partners such as Advising, Financial Aid, Tutoring, Student Leadership, Campus Counseling, Undergraduate Research, and Career Services
- -Develop and present workshops for students geared towards college readiness, academic success strategies, personal responsibility, and professional development
- -Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- -Bachelor’s degree required in psychology, education, sociology, social work, or related field from an accredited college/university
- -Minimum of 1-3 years of experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for diverse, low-income, first-generation college students
- -Experience providing case management services and advising students
- -Excellent written and oral communication skills and strength in cross-campus collaboration
- -Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to work with various medias, including social media
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- -Master's degree in education, student development, or related field
- -Clear understanding of Montana post-secondary educational opportunities, admission requirements, application procedures, and financial aid nuances
- -Experience working with federal grants
- -Flexible working style, ie…ability to work independently or with a team to accomplish shared goal
- -Background similar to participants.
- -Willingness to travel when necessary
- -Ability to chaperone students on academic enrichment tours
- -Commitment to meeting program deadlines which may necessitate occasional extended hours or weekend work during peak programmatic cycles
