Hours / Shift: Mon - Fri, 6:30am - 3:00pm
Transporting of patients and families throughout the surgical services department. Assists clinical personnel in moving patients to and from beds, stretchers, and tables while utilizing safe transfer techniques. Delivers specimens, equipment, schedules, etc. to all parts of the hospital. Maintains transportation equipment in clean and safe condition. Provide routine manual services to assure clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions between and after cases within surgical services. To follow all directives and regulatory guidelines in the responsible areas. To be willing to be cross trained in different areas. To be flexible in your duties to accommodate the needs of the unit. To present yourself in a professional and friendly manner to patients, visitors, and fellow staff members. To follow all guidelines explained in the policies, procedures, and employee handbook. This job is very fast-paced and physically demanding. It also requires knowledge of ergonomics and equipment for moving patients
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeps cribs, wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds moving throughout the hospital departments and assists in transporting patients throughout the facility for admissions, discharges and procedures.
- Assists in moving high-risk patients (patient handling risk assessment tool) from stretcher to bed and vice-versa, using mechanical devices whenever feasible.
- Is responsible for the tracking and location of patient handling equipment, identification of new equipment needs.

- Transports specimens throughout and outside the facility as needed.
- Transport items/equipment throughout the facility as needed.
- Assist with operating room turnovers between cases.
EDUCTION:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, AND/OR CERTIFICATION
- Current BLS certification recognized by AHA required prior to employment.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year experience preferred
