Transport & Logistics Specialist

Avantor is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Transport & Logistics Specialist to support transportation and logistics activities for our European Single-Use business. In this hybrid role, you will coordinate daily transportation flows, collaborate with carriers and internal teams, and contribute to process improvements that enhance cost efficiency and operational performance.
You will work closely with procurement, production, warehouse, and customer service teams while supporting cost management initiatives.
This role is based in Hillegom with hybrid working flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage transportation and logistics operations for the European Single-Use business (primarily Hillegom and Tilburg).
• Organize and coordinate inbound, outbound, and irradiation transportation for raw materials and finished goods.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers.
• Monitor shipment schedules, track deliveries, and resolve transport-related issues.
• Optimize logistics processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Prepare and manage shipping documents, customs declarations, and all required paperwork.
• Ensure compliance with international, national, and local transportation regulations.
• Collaborate with internal departments (procurement, production, warehouse, customer service) to align logistics with business needs.
• Analyze transportation data and generate regular KPI, cost, and performance reports.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the logistics and supply chain function.
• Contribute to the development of engineering and procurement packaging solutions for assemblies and hardware systems.
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain—preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, logistics operations, and regulatory requirements (including customs and import/export rules).
• Experience working with logistics systems (TMS/WMS) and office tools such as Excel and ERP systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Fluent Dutch (required).
• English language skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
