An exciting opportunity is available for a Transfer Station Supervisor at our Glasgow Transfer Station.

This full-time role involves overseeing daily operations, leading a team of operatives, and ensuring production targets are met while maintaining strict compliance with health and safety, site permits, and environmental regulations. Prior waste operations experience is beneficial but not required, as full training will be provided.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage transfer station operatives, including performance, training, and absence management.
  • Oversee mobile plant operations, coordinating maintenance, breakdowns, and supplier liaison.
  • Ensure all operations comply with site licence, PPC permit, environmental legislation, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Drive efficiency and cost control, meeting budget targets and improving operational performance.
  • Complete administrative duties, including daily checks, stock management, and reporting.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and deputise for the Operations Manager as required.

Requirements

Desirable skills and experience – full training will be provided for the right candidate:

  • WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC)
  • Experience operating mobile plant, including loading shovels and wheeled 360° grab machines; FLT experience is a plus but not essential
  • Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Full Weighbridge training will be provided
