Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
As the Transfer & Curriculum Specialist, you will play an important role in helping transfer students navigate their path to a University of Mary degree. Working closely with students, faculty, advisors, and Registrar's Office staff, you will help ensure students receive accurate transfer credit evaluations and have the tools they need to succeed academically.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Review and evaluate incoming transcripts to determine transfer credit and degree applicability.
  • Create degree plans for prospective and newly admitted transfer students, helping them understand how previous coursework applies to their chosen program.
  • Assist transfer students with academic advising and course registration.
  • Maintain transfer course equivalencies and ensure student records accurately reflect approved transfer credit.
  • Collaborate with faculty and campus departments to support curriculum updates, degree requirements, transfer policies, and catalog standards.
  • Build and maintain academic plans and degree requirements within the university's advising system.
  • Process approved transfer credit exceptions, substitutions, and waivers to keep student degree progress records current.
  • Develop and update procedures and documentation to support consistent and efficient office operations.
  • Assist with advisor training and provide guidance on academic planning tools and processes.
  • Support NCAA eligibility reviews and enrollment verification requests for student-athletes.
  • Assist with student records, registration processes, graduation reviews, and commencement-related activities.
  • Respond to student questions and concerns with professionalism, accuracy, and a commitment to excellent service.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Registrar's Office by assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience Include:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Required: A minimum of 1 year of related work experience or equivalent education or training
  • Preferred: Previous experience evaluating transcripts and/or competency exams for course equivalencies and/or higher education work experience
  • Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
  • Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
  • Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Registrar’s Office and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Experience working in higher education, student services, advising, admissions, registration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with student information systems or other educational technology platforms. Training will be provided for university-specific software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with data and records.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining student privacy and confidentiality.
