Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Train System Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks in Engineering Department. The position is based in PISTOIA - IT.

Accountabilities

  • Preparation of documents Electrical architecture of high, medium and low voltage
  • Preparation vehicle architecture of the TCMS
  • Definition of traction curves and development of driving simulations
  • Development Functional specifications for the functional integration of the vehicle
  • Preparation of the vehicle test specifications
  • Support for performance and functional tests of the vehicle

Required Skills/ Knowledge

  • Experience of at least 5 years in the railway industry with the role of Train Systems Engineer
  • Preferred past experience in Main Line / High Speed Rolling Stocks
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts of the RAMS disciplines is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the main regulations relating to on-board systems in the railway business
  • Knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the electrotechnical, electronic, system engineering processes and the main regulations in the railway field is required, in order to manage, throughout the life cycle of the product and with an interdisciplinary approach, the design activities, development and functional integration of the subsystems of railway vehicle platforms, with particular reference to the topics of architecture, functions and vehicle performance, from the design phase to the final validation phase and analysis of feedback from the field.
  • Recommended knowledge of electrical/mechanical design software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the IBM DOORS requirements management tool
  • Knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation, with the aptitude to contribute with constructive and practical ideas.
  • Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multitasking international environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects is required.
  • Availability for short-term national and international business trip.

  • Ability to manage and plan the assigned tasks independently and team-working.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements, problem-solving attitude and business process analysis.
  • Ability to face with the different internal functions (internal customer) and external (suppliers, customers, partners).

  • Versatile in learning and strong desire to remain up-to-date with changes in technology and best industry practices.
  • Strong business acumen & technical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attitude to work in an international and multi-cultural reality.

Education / Qualifications
Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Vehicle Transportation Engineering or equivalent

Languages
Knowledge of the Italian language is mandatory

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory (a C1 level of proficiency is required)
