At SLR Consulting, we are problem solvers, innovators, and trusted advisors helping shape sustainable solutions worldwide. With more than 5,000 people globally and a strong APAC team of over 1,200, we deliver specialist consulting services to a growing client base across business, regulatory, and government sectors.

At the heart of SLR is a collaborative 'One Team' approach, a supportive and accessible workplace culture, and opportunities to work alongside industry leaders while making a real impact.

About the role

We are looking for a Traffic & Transport Consultant with strong attention to detail to join our Brisbane Team.

From our modern and collaborative Eagle Street CBD office, you will work across a mix of strategic and site-specific transport projects for private sector, regulatory and government clients across Australia and internationally. We offer flexible working arrangements from our water-side office.

This is a role where you will develop both technically and professionally, with guidance and mentoring from respected industry leaders. As your career progresses, you will take on greater responsibility for managing projects and client relationships.

This is a full time position ideally, however, we will consider applications from those looking to work part time.

Your technical work will cover areas including:

  • Traffic and intersection analysis, including modelling, corridor studies, and signal assessments
  • Traffic engineering design, from swept paths and parking layouts through to intersection upgrades and road safety improvements
  • Traffic impact assessments and development-related transport advice
  • Transport planning and multi-modal integration
  • Construction and event traffic management strategies
  • Data collection, analysis, and reporting across all of the above

This role also gives you hands-on responsibility for the consulting and project management side of our work, including:

  • Assisting with the delivery of technical analysis, plans and reports
  • Developing skills to support presenting to private clients and public agencies
  • Building skills to support client and stakeholder relationships with senior support

Whether you are building these project management and consulting skills for the first time or looking to extend what you already have, we will support your development through targeted professional mentoring and training.

Experience

We're looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related field
  • Ideally 1–4 years of experience in traffic or transport engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in areas such as development assessment, transport planning, construction traffic management, or microsimulation
  • Experience with traffic modelling and design software such as SIDRA, AIMSUN, VISSIM, AutoCAD, AutoTurn or RapidPlan
  • Excellent communication, time management, and prioritisation skills
  • A proactive, self-starting approach, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

We appreciate that people tend to specialise. If your background covers some of these areas and you're looking for a role where you can grow, we encourage you to apply

At SLR, we know that every person is different, which is why we offer a benefits package designed to support both your personal and professional growth:
