Traffic Control will be responsible for implementing traffic control measures, ensuring the safety of workers and the public, and maintaining compliance with traffic regulations on construction sites. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of traffic control procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Set up and maintain traffic control devices, including cones, barricades, signs, and signals, according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Direct traffic using hand signals, flags, or other designated methods to safely guide vehicles, pedestrians, and equipment through work zones.
• Monitor traffic conditions and adjust traffic control measures as needed to minimize congestion and maintain smooth traffic flow.
• Communicate with project managers, supervisors, and team members to coordinate traffic control activities and ensure compliance with project schedules.
• Assist in the installation and removal of temporary traffic control measures during construction projects.
• Conduct daily inspections of traffic control equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
• Provide guidance and assistance to drivers, pedestrians, and workers regarding traffic control procedures and safety protocols.
• Respond to emergencies or incidents involving traffic control, such as accidents or road closures, and implement appropriate measures to ensure safety and traffic flow.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to traffic control activities, including incident reports and equipment inventory.
• Direct traffic using hand signals, flags, or other designated methods to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians.
• Monitor traffic conditions and adjust traffic control measures as needed to minimize congestion and maintain smooth traffic flow.
• Train new team members on traffic control procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
• Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among team members and subcontractors.
• Complete and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to traffic control activities.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, protocols, and company policies to promote a culture of safety on construction sites.
• Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and company policies.
• Advise supervisor of potential problems, interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
• Perform additional assignments per the Superintendent's and Foreman's direction.
• Collaborate and train other employees.
• Adheres to procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
• Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at a normal efficiency level.
• Follow instructions and comprehend construction needs.
• Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Basic understanding of traffic control equipment and devices, such as traffic cones, signs, signals, and flagging devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders, including drivers, pedestrians, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
• Able to follow established safety rules to maintain a safe environment, adapt and respond to hazardous conditions, and use the appropriate PPE.
• Able to follow directions, instructions, structured processes, and procedures.
• Able to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, wind, rain).
• Able to communicate effectively in English & Spanish (preferred).

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Training or certification in traffic control or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a traffic control technician or foreman in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of traffic control regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Valid Driver’s License with clear MVR (may be required).

Physical Requirements:
• Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
• Work in various weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, and balance repeatedly or continually throughout shift.
• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Regularly work near heavy equipment, power tools, and moving machinery.
• Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
• Able to push/pull 80+lbs.
• Able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
• Able to operate a motor vehicle and/or equipment.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.

This position routinely requires the use of personal and/or company vehicles on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Employees in this position may be subject to random Motor Vehicle Record and alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.

Skills Required
