Job Description

Customer Service and Internal Coordination:

  • Coordinate with internal colleagues, logistics partners, quality teams and customers to support a high standard of service.
  • Represent Sucafina positively at industry events, trade shows, customer functions and educational activities.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for Sucafina and the coffee industry.

 

Contract Lifecycle, Commercial Execution and Risk Awareness:

  • Support customer onboarding, contract execution and account administration.
  • Assist with coordination of customer orders, shipment schedules, delivery requirements and customer communications.
  • Develop an understanding of customer commitments, contract performance, drawdown pace, shipment timelines and payment discipline.
  • Build awareness of the commercial and operational risks that influence successful coffee trading.
  • Maintain accurate customer, contract, CRM and pipeline information.

 

Customer Development and Market Growth:

  • Develop relationships with existing and prospective coffee roasting customers across New Zealand.
  • Identify and pursue new customer opportunities through networking, referrals, industry engagement and proactive outreach.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and contribute to new customer acquisition and market development.
  • Support customer meetings, presentations, coffee tastings and commercial conversations.

 

Origin Exposure and Coffee Trade Development:

  • Develop knowledge of coffee origins, harvest cycles, quality characteristics and global supply chains.
  • Gain exposure to Sucafina’s origin network and learn how coffee moves from producers and exporters to roasters.
  • Participate in cuppings, customer tastings and quality-related activities to build coffee knowledge and credibility.
  • Contribute customer and market insights to support sourcing and business planning discussions.

 

Market Intelligence:

  • Maintain awareness of coffee market developments, harvest updates, customer activity, competitor activity and wider industry trends.
  • Develop an understanding of the factors that influence coffee availability, quality, pricing and customer decision-making.
  • Share relevant market insights and opportunities with the wider team.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Hospitality, Food Science or a related field is helpful but not required.
  • Equivalent practical experience in coffee, hospitality, foodservice, FMCG, sales or customer-facing commercial roles will be considered.
  • Early to mid-career experience in a customer-facing, sales, account support, hospitality, coffee, foodservice or FMCG role.
  • Exposure to coffee preparation, roasting, cupping, specialty coffee or café operations is desirable.
  • Green coffee trading experience is not required.
  • Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Office or similar business tools is beneficial.

Additional Information

This is a Trader role designed as a career pathway into the commercial coffee trade. The role supports the growth of Sucafina New Zealand by building relationships with coffee roasters, identifying new customer opportunities, developing market and origin knowledge, supporting contract execution and learning the commercial disciplines required for successful green coffee trading.

Skills Required

  • Early to mid-career experience in customer-facing, sales, account support, hospitality, coffee, foodservice or FMCG roles
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Hospitality, Food Science or related field
