Trade Finance Product Management

About the job

Global Transaction Banking has two main pillars of business namely, Cash Management and Trade Finance / Services.

Under Global Trade Finance (GTF), it is important that OCBC is able to support our corporate clients in traditional trade as well as supply chain financing (covering Accounts Receivable Purchase/ARP and Accounts Payable Financing/APF), be it domestic or cross-border trade.

Position

At OCBC (Malaysia) Bhd (“OCBC”), we are looking for a strong candidate with Supply Chain Finance (SCF) experience to lead the team.

Responsibilities
  • Work with GTF Group Office (Singapore) on submission of SCF product proposals for approval under the New Product Governance process or enhancement to existing features of SCF, to meet market demand in Malaysia.

  • Work with Trade Sales Managers (TSMs) and Relationship Managers (RMs) in structuring SCF solutions, addressing risks in deviations where applicable for approval.

  • Develop product strategy and roadmaps through product knowledge, competitors’ offerings, market research, internal and external stakeholders’ feedback and others.

  • Roll out enhancements to existing products and new products.

  • Manage the Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities together with TSMs for SCF.

  • Commercialize SCF and work hand-in-hand with TSMs to increase the revenue for SCF.

  • Referrals of SCF potential clients, where applicable to RMs.

  • Lead the Middle Office support with regards to SCF e.g. managing the credit insurance portfolio, risk participation and risk distribution opportunities.

  • Work alongside Group office for system enhancement and Channel team, ensuring that enhancements are thoroughly tested prior to launching.

  • Liaise with stakeholders e.g. Legal (internal or external) to ensure that documentation for SCF or custom-made solutions are in place.

  • Drive ad-hoc projects assigned by Head of Trade and Supply Chain Product or the Bank’s management from time to time.

  • Provide mentorship to team members and guide stakeholders for deeper understanding of SCF.

Requirements
  • An SCF expert with at least 15 years of experience in Factoring / ARP, APF, SCF Operations and Product Management.

  • Robust knowledge of working capital solutions, accounts receivables purchase, accounts payable financing, credit insurance, risk participation and distribution and third-party platforms.

  • Experience in legal documentation negotiation.

  • Experience in structuring SCF solutions to cater to market’s needs from time to time.

  • Experience in handling negotiation with Trade Credit Insurers or brokers to back SCF solutions, short to mid-term deals.

  • Excellent in stakeholder management skills and able to articulate product changes / new product or system enhancements to solicit approval.

  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.

  • Solid structuring skills, identifying risks and propose mitigants and robust control frameworks.

  • Proficient in product development lifecycle and methodologies e.g. capital relief.
