Overview

Reporting to the Tool Room Manager in Mayville to design production tooling and work on continuous improvement projects in the West Bend plant.

Responsibilities
  • Design tools to make components per customer specifications. Tool types included but not limited to arc weld fixtures, machine fixtures, assembly fixtures, assembly tools, brake press tooling and punch press tooling.
  • Evaluate current production processes for improvements. Design tooling to support those improvements.
  • Provide solid modeling support to tool makers as required.
  • Work with tool makers as required as new tools are being built or existing tools modified.
  • Review Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for tool modification requirements.
  • Assign tool numbers to jobs and maintain tooling records.
  • Attend project meetings as required to provide necessary inputs to team.
  • Adhere to company Quality Policy and follow appropriate procedures as documented in the training agreement.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other tool room related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design or 5 years practical experience in tool and die or tool design.
  • Certification as a Journeyman (tool and die) a plus.
  • Proficient blueprint reading skills.
  • Knowledge of conventional machining practice.
  • Knowledge of manual and robotic welding.
  • Knowledge of product and process development.
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • 2 years minimum solid modeling experience preferably using Pro-Engineer or Creo
  • Computer proficiency
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T
