The Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Tier 2 System Administrator to join our growing IT team. In this role, you will serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 support and be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting mission critical IT systems, supporting end users, and ensuring the security and performance of our infrastructure. This position is ideal for a tech-savvy professional with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology.
Responsibilities:
• Provide advanced technical support for hardware, software, database, custom software and network-related issues escalated from Tier 1.
• Administer and maintain servers (Windows, Linux, Solaris), desktops and applications, printers and peripheral equipment, Active Directory and virtual environments (VMware).
• Perform system health checks, monitor system performance and ensure backups are running for restoration capability.
• Assist in onboarding/offboarding of users, including account setup and access controls.
• Document technical issues, solutions, and processes in ticketing systems and knowledge bases.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Must have an active TS/SCI with Poly
• Must have at least an IAT Level II Certification: Such as Security+
• Must be willing to participate in weekly day support hours rotation - 7-3, 8-4, 9-5, 10-6 and an after-hours on-call support rotation
• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a system or IT support role
• Strong knowledge and experience with command line in a Unix Environment, Windows Server, Windows desktop, Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware)
• Proficiency in troubleshooting custom software, network connectivity and performance issues
• Strong understanding of security best practices and data protection
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desired:
• Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.)
• Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, HelpNow, Jira, Confluence)
• Exposure to ITIL practices or formal change management best practices
• Prior experience supporting real-time operations/Mission Critical infrastructure
• Familiarity with CISCO switches and firewalls
• Familiarity and experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (SCOM preferred)

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
