onsemi is currently seeking a hands-on Process Engineer. This person will utilize innovative concepts and best-known methods to improve and develop processes and products. The ideal candidate will also provide technical leadership, support, and training to internal and external customers.
ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary
The Test Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining semiconductor test processes to ensure high yield, reliability, and cost-effective production. This role focuses on troubleshooting test-related issues, driving yield improvement, and ensuring robust test coverage across products.
- Develop, qualify, and release test processes for new products (NPI to Production transition).
- Define test methodologies, limits, and guard bands based on characterization data.
- Optimize test programs to improve throughput, test time, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor daily test yield performance and identify yield loss drivers.
- Perform Pareto analysis on failures and drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Assembly, Design, Wafer Fab) to resolve systemic issues.
- Ensure proper handler/prober interface and test setup optimization by working with equipment engineering to resolve tester hardware issues.
- Implement and maintain SPC controls (UCL/LCL, Cpk, Ppk) for critical parameters and track key metrics such as yield, test escapes, retest rate, and DPPM.
- Establish control plans and reaction plans for out-of-control conditions.
- Drive test cost reduction initiatives (test time, multi-site optimization, program efficiency) by improving productivity through automation and standardization
- Document test procedures, specifications, and engineering change notices (ECNs).
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Engineering course primarily on Electronics Technology, Electronics Engineering (Undergraduate), Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in semiconductor or electronics manufacturing is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage conflict in a stressful environment.
- Understands and listens to team members and fosters a productive team environment.
- Handles multiple projects and must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proficient in advanced techniques with relevant software: MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
