Company Overview:

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup, founded by two Former Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing a small, autonomous gun turret that employs advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely target and neutralize small drones and loitering munitions. Our innovative approach requires overcoming significant technical challenges, making this an exciting and dynamic environment for experienced engineers.

With an engineering-first culture, ACS values technical excellence and innovation. Backed by our founders' successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop will have a real-world impact.

About The Role:

We are looking for a Test Integration Engineer to join our team, focusing on system integration, bring-up, debugging, and validation of our next-generation autonomous weapon platforms. This role is highly hands-on and involves working across electrical, mechanical, and software systems to diagnose issues, improve reliability, and ensure systems perform in real-world conditions.

What You'll Do:

  • Integrate electrical subsystems including motor drivers, sensors, cameras, networking and power systems.
  • Perform system bring-up, debugging and validation during prototype and production phases.
  • Debug and integrate systems spanning Linux-based platforms and STM32 firmware.
  • Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other lab equipment to diagnose power, signal integrity, timing and communication issues.
  • Develop and execute test procedures for electrical, communication and system level validation.
  • Support field testing and help root-cause failures observed during operation
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to improve design robustness and testability.
  • Build and maintain test fixtures, harnesses, and automation tools where appropriate
  • Assist in validating new hardware revisions and verifying design changes.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware bring-up, integration and test.
  • Strong hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware debugging.
  • Strong proficiency working in Linux environments from the command line.
  • Experience with common electrical interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485, UART, I²C)
  • Basic scripting or programming ability (Python or C/C++).
  • Understanding of real-time constraints and hardware-software integration challenges.
  • A desire to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced startup environment.

You'll Stand Out:

  • Hands-on work with high-power, motor-driven, or battery-based systems
  • Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system-level test environments
  • Working knowledge of embedded Linux platforms such as Yocto or Ubuntu-based systems
  • Understanding of EMI and EMC considerations and field reliability challenges
  • Involvement in field testing or operational deployments
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot intermittent or system-level failures in complex hardware systems

What We Do

Allen Control Systems is a defense technology company for a new era of drone warfare and to completely change battlefield economics. ACS is developing counter-drone robotic gun systems targeted at neutralizing attacking drone swarms, drones that are pre-programmed with AI, and drones that are non-jammable. ACS was created to lower the cost per kill of a drone to a few dollars. We do this by combining cutting-edge hardware and software that allows us to point an inexpensive gun that already exists in the field more accurately than anyone ever has before. ACS is a remote organization, with our HQ in Austin, Texas, and an office in Alexandria, Va. If you're passionate about our mission, we’d love to hear from you.
