Test Engineer

Tocaro Blue is transforming maritime technology by modernizing legacy marine radar systems through innovative software solutions. Our flagship product, ProteusCore™, is an advanced software platform that integrates vessel Radar sensor data with artificial intelligence and machine learning models to deliver real-time situational awareness and support vessel autonomy systems.
Role Summary
We're seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to join our Product Development team in an essential role supporting the development and refinement of our AI perception systems. In this position, you'll be responsible for management of our test platform, quality assurance of our software products, and the design and execution of various test plans for collecting high-quality data to power our machine learning models. Your work will contribute to improving ProteusCore's ability to detect, classify, and track objects in maritime environments.
This role sits at the intersection of marine technology and artificial intelligence, offering the opportunity to work with unique sensors and contribute to cutting-edge autonomous systems for maritime applications.
Responsibilities
- Assist with our on-water test assets, including two ~30ft manned vessels - performing electrical upgrades, equipment swaps, and general maintenance.
- Perform in-depth quality assurance testing according to the release schedule of our software products, working with our product team to find bugs and enhance the customer experience.
- Working closely with our ML engineering team to define data collection and testing plans that align with cutting edge AI research.
- Sea-trailing along-side our vessel captain to conduct experiments and collect data on a weekly basis.
- Providing product-use and troubleshooting assistance to customers based on your own on-water experiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or marine architecture.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to create and follow a plan.
- Experience with marine electronics and hands-on manufacturing methods
- Ability to perform physically demanding work including installation of equipment, lifting, and carrying up to 25 pounds.
Compensation & Commitment
- $60,000 - $80,000 salary, with potential for incentive equity compensation

- In-house training on tools and techniques
- Ability to work on US Government Contracts (typically limited to US Citizens)
- Required in-office, Pensacola, FL
