Job Description

Test Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic Test Engineer/Test Driven Developer (Functional Tester) to join our collaborative, multi-disciplinary team in the Washington DC Area. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving usability, user experience, and driving user adoption and engagement through effective testing strategies. They should have experience in coding, testing, debugging, and implementing web applications using various platforms. This role requires familiarity with automated agile (TDD/BDD) and waterfall methodologies, as well as the skills necessary to ensure successful maintenance of automated unit, acceptance, and regression tests with a focus on early automation.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Test Engineer: Pay commensurate with experience.

Test Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Utilize usability tools and research methods to provide actionable insights that drive future design improvements
  • Collect testing needs from internal clients and determine priorities consistent with business goals and objectives
  • Plan, moderate, and scribe focus groups, remote, and one-on-one usability sessions to obtain user preferences and feedback
  • Plan, recruit, and facilitate the usability testing of a system
  • Analyze and synthesize the results of usability testing to provide recommendations for system changes
  • Create artifacts such as Usability Testing Plan, Testing Scripts, and Usability Testing Report
  • Apply testing expertise to design and develop automated tests to support functional, performance, and security test strategies/plans for Web Apps Analytics efforts
  • Create manual and automated test cases/scripts traceable to requirements, user stories, use cases, and incorporate reusability in test case design/development
  • Assist in developing scripts that reuse unit and component tests associated with test-driven development
  • Assist in designing and developing standard test design approaches for test-driven development and automation
  • Provide updates to the Test Strategy and Implementation Plan (TSIP) and use it as a guide to status Automation efforts
  • Execute testing and provide solutions and resolutions to findings
  • Convert Agile User Stories into automated test scenarios run during iterations and subsequently consumed by release and system-level testers
  • Work closely with the product team to ensure that the built product validates the business intent
  • Collaborate within a larger product development team to implement suitable continuous integration (CI) frameworks enabling earlier discovery of defects and higher quality software
  • Develop end-to-end automated regression scenarios to be used as regression tests during continuous integration and QA cycles
  • Identify and build service layer automated test solutions to support early automation
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Test Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • An Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain one is required
  • Strong understanding of usability testing methodologies and tools
  • Proficiency in coding and scripting languages
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including TDD and BDD
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to drive actionable insights
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
