Job Description:

Location: Shanghai, Shenzhen, China

Test Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and sustaining manufacturing test processes to ensure product quality, safety, and functional compliance. This role plays a critical part in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and factory commissioning activities, while driving continuous improvement, automation, and cross-functional alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, document, and maintain manufacturing test processes, procedures, and specifications to meet product quality and functional requirements.

  • Lead and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and provide technical support for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities.

  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing test plans aligned with FAT protocols, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Define and implement factory product commissioning strategies to enable full product validation prior to shipment.

  • Contribute to PFMEA, control plan development, and operational process risk assessments related to test and validation activities.

  • Define and execute automated test equipment (ATE) strategies, including concept development, vendor engagement, implementation, and validation.

  • Oversee factory test equipment installation, debugging, production launch, and ongoing continuous improvement efforts

  • Actively participate in program core teams to deliver milestones, resolve technical issues, and meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives.

  • Establish test equipment installation and qualification schedules; facilitate regular status reviews with internal teams, vendors, and contractors.

  • Lead root cause analysis, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, yield, and cost efficiency in manufacturing test processes.

  • Collaborate closely with China-based factories and global engineering teams to ensure standardization and best-practice adoption across sites.

  • Stay current with industry trends, test methodologies, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to manufacturing test and validation.

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior test engineers and factory test technicians.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Typically 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, validation, or industrialization roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, and factory test systems.

  • Proven experience with test automation, data acquisition systems, and manufacturing test equipment.

  • Solid understanding of PFMEA, control plans, and quality systems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working in or with China-based factories, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Ability to travel domestically within China and occasionally internationally as required.
