The Opportunity

Join the team that scales and strengthens Hinge Health's testing capabilities for software-enabled hardware systems. As a Test Engineer II, you will execute well-defined test methods and verification protocols, help run a disciplined hardware test lab, and ensure our devices meet the rigor, traceability, and quality expectations required in regulated product development.

What You'll Accomplish
  • In your first 3 months:

    • Execute defined test methods and protocols for design verification, sustaining changes, complaint investigations, and related product test activities.

    • Collect, record, and organize test data and draft clear test reports that address results, discrepancies, and follow-up needs.

    • Support ad hoc engineering test execution and other bench-level testing needs as programs move through development and verification.

    • Support QC testing for in-office builds as needed, including basic incoming checks, screening activities, and documentation of results.

  • In your first 6 months:

    • Serve as a first line of support for hardware-related complaint investigation testing using established methods and documented procedures.

    • Help run the lab effectively by maintaining equipment records, tracking fixtures, coordinating calibration status, and keeping the space organized and ready for use.

    • Support execution of test method validation protocols and other formal studies prepared by the broader test team.

    • Support automated and semi-automated test execution by preparing devices, samples, fixtures, scripts, and lab setups; monitoring runs; and documenting and escalating failures appropriately.

  • In your first year:

    • Support assembly of prototypes, fixtures, and test setups, including minor modifications using standard lab and bench tools.

    • Identify recurring execution pain points and partner with test engineers to improve repeatability, standardize workflows, and expand automation support over time.

    • Partner closely with Quality, R&D, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure testing is completed on schedule and documented appropriately.

Who You Are
  • You are organized, hands-on, and detail-oriented, with a strong bias toward clear documentation and lab discipline.

  • You are comfortable working in a regulated product development environment where rigor, traceability, and process adherence matter.

  • You are a collaborator who enjoys working cross-functionally with engineers, quality partners, and program stakeholders to keep test activities moving.

  • You are a learn-it-all who seeks to improve test workflows over time through better tooling, automation, and standardization.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience in engineering, engineering technology, quality, or a related technical field.

  • 2+ years of experience working in a test, lab, quality, manufacturing, or product development environment.

  • Experience executing written procedures or protocols and documenting results in a clear, traceable, and organized way, including handling sample tracking, equipment records, and test documentation.

  • Experience using common lab equipment and working within controlled test setups.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, quality partners, and program stakeholders to complete testing on schedule.

  • Strong written communication skills for documenting results, discrepancies, and test observations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting hardware verification, validation, sustaining, or complaint investigation activities.

  • Experience in regulated product development environments, ideally within medical devices.

  • Experience with lab administration, calibration tracking, fixture control, or equipment management.

  • Experience supporting QC testing, screening, or incoming checks for in-office builds or prototype hardware.

  • Experience working with automated or semi-automated test setups, scripts, or fixtures in a lab environment.

  • Basic scripting skills for supporting automated tests, reviewing log data, or assisting with failure triage.

  • Familiarity with test methods, protocol execution, and formal report documentation.

  • Experience supporting root cause investigations or failure replication on returned or non-conforming product.

  • Hands-on experience assembling prototypes, fixtures, or bench test setups and making minor modifications with common tools.

  • Proficiency with soldering and hot-air rework for PCBA modifications is a plus.

  • Exposure to software or system-level test execution is a plus, especially in environments where hardware and software interact closely.
