General Summary:The Test Engineer I is responsible for working as part of an agile team that delivers business value to customers. This role ensures software is delivered to high quality standards through collaboration with agile team members and the application of both manual and automated testing techniques. The Test Engineer participates in the planning, design, management, execution, and reporting of testing activities using appropriate tools and methodologies while adhering to established process standards and industry regulations. The role supports both manual and automated quality assurance efforts and promotes quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.The goal of testing is to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, services, and interfaces perform as specified, and that deployment risks are adequately understood and documented.
Testing includes the development, execution, and maintenance of test assets, including test cases, test scripts, test plans, and test reports, to measure and improve software quality.
The Test Engineer is responsible for creating comprehensive test coverage, identifying functional and edge-case scenarios, and contributing to the continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and practices.
Job Specifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience
2+ years of relevant software testing or quality assurance experience
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
Experience creating and executing manual and automated test cases
Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, or similar technologies)
Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and experience using Java, Python, or similar languages for test automation
Experience with API testing and test management tools
Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills with exceptional attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience testing Salesforce applications or other complex web-based platforms

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring the quality of existing and new features through manual and automated testing while supporting continuous integration and delivery practices
Partner with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and development team members to define acceptance criteria, identify quality risks, and develop effective test strategies and test coverage
Create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, regression test packs, and other testing artifacts for new and amended software or services
Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions and participate in automation efforts across all phases of testing, including functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
Perform API and system testing to validate application functionality, integrations, and business requirements
Analyze test results, investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and provide clear, detailed defect documentation and reporting
Promote quality assurance best practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet customer and business expectations
Participate in Agile team activities, including daily standups, estimation, sprint planning, and maintenance of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools
Support continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new testing tools, automation approaches, and emerging technologies
May provide guidance to onshore and offshore testing resources and help ensure adherence to team quality standards

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$60,500.00-$123,400.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
