Position SummaryThe Product Engineering Technician supports Product Engineers in executing product documentation updates (BOM, AML, ECO), implementing changes on the manufacturing floor, conducting impact and risk evaluations, and ensuring accurate configuration control through disciplined Change Management practices.
Key Responsibilities1. Documentation & Configuration Control- Execute updates to BOM (Bill of Materials), AML (Approved Manufacturer List), and ECO (Engineering Change Orders) in internal systems.
- Ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and alignment with customer and Jabil requirements.
- Maintain traceability of changes according to Jabil standards and customer-specific processes.
- Review and verify technical documents such as datasheets, drawings, specifications, and material documentation.
- Coordinate and support the implementation of ECOs on the production floor.
- Ensure operators and manufacturing teams receive clear, updated documentation and instructions.
- Verify correct setup of materials, tooling, fixtures, and test configurations according to new revisions.
- Perform line checks to confirm physical implementation aligns with ECO requirements.
- Support Impact Analysis by evaluating effects on materials, processes, test, tooling, and documentation.
- Participate in Risk Assessments to identify operational or technical risks associated with changes.
- Assist in developing or executing Validation Plans, including:
- First Articles
- Line verification builds
- Sampling inspection
- ATP/Test verification
- Ensure good documentation practices and compliance with change control procedures.
- Provide technical support to Product Engineers regarding documentation issues, deviations, or configuration errors.
- Support containment actions on the floor related to incorrect revisions, materials, or process setups.
- Troubleshoot issues related to product configuration or documentation misalignment.
- Collaborate with Quality, Test, Materials, and Manufacturing teams to resolve product-related issues.
- Lead cross-functional ECO implementation tasks involving manufacturing, quality, materials, planning, and test.
- Facilitate short daily/weekly status meetings when needed to track ECO completion.
- Drive process discipline for documentation accuracy, revision control, and configuration management.
- Ensure timely closure of ECOs and follow-up actions.
- Technical career or engineering degree (completed or in progress) in Mechatronics, Electronics, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in electronics manufacturing (EMS preferred).
- Knowledge of:
- BOM / AML structures
- ECO processes
- Engineering documentation
- Basic quality and manufacturing principles
- Ability to interpret engineering documents (datasheets, prints, schematics).
- Proficiency with MS Office and PLM/ERP systems such as Agile, SAP, or similar.
- Previous experience in Jabil or other EMS environments.
- Understanding of Change Management, Impact Analysis, FMEA, Risk Assessment.
- Experience supporting validation builds, test verification, or process adjustments.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Effective communication with cross-functional teams.
- Leadership and coordination skills for ECO implementation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Discipline in following processes and documentation standards.
- Onsite work in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Frequent interaction with manufacturing, materials, test, quality, and engineering teams.
- Occasional support outside standard hours for urgent implementations.
