Purpose

The Automation Test Analyst (Cypress) is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of HammerTech’s web applications through a strong focus on automated testing. Embedded within a dedicated squad, this role will own and contribute to automation tests for assigned modules, working closely with developers and fellow testers to continuously improve test coverage and reduce lead time to production.

This role is primarily automation-focused, supporting HammerTech’s strategic direction to move towards predominantly automated testing across the platform.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in test automation using Cypress, with strong TypeScript skills
  • Solid understanding of test design patterns (e.g. Page Object Model) and automation best practices
  • Proven ability to analyse requirements and design effective test cases for new features
  • Experience validating REST APIs using tools like Postman, with a good grasp of HTTP methods, status codes and response validation
  • Hands-on experience working with databases (PostgreSQL preferred), including test data setup, seeding and teardown
  • Experience working in agile, product-led teams delivering features frequently
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated test execution
  • Exposure to Cypress Cloud, parallel test execution, and cloud-based environments (e.g. AWS ECS)
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerised test execution environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an analytical, detail-oriented mindset
  • Proactive self-starter able to work autonomously within a squad, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement
  • Experience in a high-throughput B2B software environment is highly regarded

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to design effective test coverage
  • Design, develop, execute and maintain automated tests for web applications using Cypress
  • Own and contribute automation coverage for modules within your squad, supported by manual testing where needed
  • Collaborate closely with developers through peer programming and collaborative testing practices
  • Identify, log and manage defects, including root cause analysis and lifecycle management (e.g. Jira)
  • Validate REST APIs using Postman and support backend testing as required
  • Perform database testing and validation (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Support CI/CD pipelines by ensuring automation tests are reliable, scalable and efficient
  • Continuously improve testing practices, frameworks and processes within the squad and broader testing team
  • Work with other testers to maintain consistency and quality across squads
  • Communicate clear, actionable feedback to developers, product managers and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to broader product quality and delivery outcomes as required
