Position Summary:

The Telecommunications Engineer will provide telecommunications engineering, system integration, technical support, and field deployment services for the Defense Policy Review Initiative (DPRI) and NSWC Corona Range Systems Department. This includes support for C4/IT infrastructure, RF systems, microwave, satellite, tactical radio, fiber optic, terrestrial communications, and associated network systems. The position supports communications system design, integration, installation, testing, modernization, and sustainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform telecommunications systems engineering, facilities engineering, and implementation activities supporting DPRI C4/IT infrastructure.
  • Develop system diagrams, schematics, network architectures, and site plans.
  • Support system acquisition and integration planning activities.
  • Coordinate installation, Test & Evaluation (T&E), and system acceptance activities.
  • Conduct site planning, site surveys, technical assessments, and requirements validation.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, implementation plans, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Support RF, microwave, satellite, tactical radio, fiber optic, Ethernet, and terrestrial communication systems.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Writers, Information Assurance Specialists, and Installation Technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required:

  • 7+ years of telecommunications engineering or communications systems experience.
  • Experience with telecommunications system integration, installation, and testing.
  • Knowledge of RF propagation, link budget analysis, and communication system design.
  • Understanding of network engineering principles and IP-based communications.
  • Experience with Ethernet networks, routers, switches, servers, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to CONUS/OCONUS project locations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Systems, Network Engineering, or related discipline.

Desired:

  • Experience supporting DoD, DPRI, or military communications programs.
  • Experience with microwave, satellite, tactical radio, RF, fiber optic, and terrestrial communication systems.
  • Experience with telecommunications infrastructure, antenna systems, and communication towers.
  • BICSI RCDD, OSP, or equivalent telecommunications infrastructure certification.
  • Cisco CCNA or higher-level networking certification.
  • FOA CFOT or other fiber optic certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, and engineering design tools.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Systems, Network Engineering, or related discipline.

Security Clearance:

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, active Secret clearance preferred. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
