We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Telecommunication Network Operations Learnership.
This is an exciting opportunity for young people to gain hands-on, practical experience in a professional environment while completing the 12-Month Telecommunication Network Operations Learnership Programme (SAQA ID 59057, NQF Level 4).

END DATE: 31 st May 2027
LOCATION:
East London: Training location will be in the East London area; there will be on site requirements away from East London
After ~4-6 months travel will be required to sites within Eastern Cape borders
Reside in East London, Eastern Cape

What you will do:
- Climb ladders and towers and safely and efficiently complete various job duties at elevated heights with supervision
- Erect telecommunication tower components using cables, ropes, pulleys & other equipment
- Installation of cables, antennas, microwave dishes and other communications equipment
- Install pinwheels, structural steel, cable tray, conduits, antenna mounts, antennas, transmission lines and ancillary equipment on communication towers
- Remove, install, and repair aerial telecommunication transmission and distribution antenna, equipment, and associated hardware
- Remove, install, and repair various types and sizes of telecommunication cables and lines including fiber optic, coaxial and DC power
- Understand and strictly adhere to safety practices and guidelines
- Perform various audits and tests, upgrades and maintenance when required
- Perform repairs and emergency repairs and restore services when required
- Understand instructions to the work order and plans
- Assist the team leader in his duties as required
- Apply the rules of Health and Safety at work
- Utilize winches and capstan to move loads as required
- Understand and strictly adhere to safety practices and guidelines
- Understand and strictly adhere to established Ericsson and customer quality requirements without deviation
- Other duties as assigned by team leader
- Must successfully complete Ericsson's tower training program at required level
- Must be able to work outside of normal business hours (i.e., shift work), to include nights and weekends, if needed
The skills you bring:
- Matric (National senior certificate) Preferably technical
- TVET students with IT or ICT cortication (low voltage, telco or digital electronics course OR students from university of technology with ICT or Networking qualification
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English language for safety reasons
- Self-starter with desire and ability to learn and retain knowledge
- Must be a team player and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to exercise flexibility in challenging and/or perplexing situations
- Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environment
- Knowledge of networking principles, Ethernet standards, power systems, and cable testing
- Working knowledge of telecommunication construction.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
