DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Perform and maintain responsibility for development to improve reliability and scalability of applications in private cloud and physical infrastructures. Maintain and improve the reliability of high- scale systems. Automate repetitive and manual tasks with scripts, coding, automation as a service, and other tools to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency. Review code and perform operational management, including change and incident management to ensure all releases processes and SLAs are met and that outages are addressed. Perform release management and continuous integration and continuous deployment. Monitor applications, infrastructure, processes, usage traffic, certificates, performance, and capacity. Plan modernization for applications and prepare their migration to the cloud, including reviewing distributed systems architecture and cost analysis. Perform disaster recovery and test service resilience to ensure systems can handle unexpected interruptions. Mentor and provide technical training to front-line support staff in application management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: 3- or 4-year Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Information Technology, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Technology Support, Application Support, System Administrator, IT Specialist, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires five (5) years of experience with the following: Supporting workflow-based applications with monolithic and layered architectures; Using Oracle databases, including running queries on normalized relational Oracle databases; Working in low-latency Linux environments; Performing disaster recovery and service resiliency tests for high-availability applications to ensure they can handle unexpected interruptions. This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Performing operational management tasks, including change and incident management with ServiceNow to ensure all release processes and SLAs are met and that outages are addressed; Working with server migration from on-premises to AWS cloud; Using Bash and Perl scripting languages to automate manual monitoring or manual tasks; Monitoring and renewing the lifecycle of SSL certificates; Managing large-scale software applications that support at least 15,000 users within a global financial institution; Improving reliability, resiliency, and scalability of high-scale applications in private cloud and virtual servers with microservices and layered architectures; Managing and using scheduling and configuration tools including Autosys, Control-M, JIRA, and Confluence; Deploying code using CICD practices through manual implementation or CICD pipelines; Using and configuring monitoring tools including Grafana, Geneos, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Datadog to meet platform observability requirements; troubleshooting Oracle query performance issues and designing and implementing solutions and back-up strategies; Using and managing Cassandra databases including running backups and queries in a highly resilient, fault-tolerant configuration; Working with Kubernetes, Kafka, and Elastic within a global financial institution; Coding and reviewing software using Java 8 or higher.
