About this Opportunity
Ericsson is a world-leading provider of equipment and services to mobile network operators, with over 1,000 networks in more than 180 countries using Ericsson equipment. In the US, Ericsson is the #1 player with 50%+ market share in wireless networks (RAN), with global headquarters in Stockholm and Americas headquarters in Dallas, TX.
At Market Area Americas (MACS), we are driving 5G adoption and preparing for 6G and the next wave of AI-native, automated networks. We are seeking an experienced, visionary Technology Strategy Director - Network Architecture & AI Platforms, to lead end-to-end network architecture and growth strategy for MACS, with a focus on wireless technology, AI-enabled network insights, and expansion of our TAM. This role reports to the Head of Technology, Americas.
What you will do
- Own the end-to-end (E2E) network architecture vision for MACS across RAN, transport, core, and IT/cloud, defining scalable blueprints that enable growth, cost efficiency, and differentiated performance.
- Drive technology strategy for growth and TAM expansion by identifying high-potential areas, shaping investment themes, and turning network and spectrum insights into concrete growth plays and offers for CUs and customers.
- Build and evolve AI-enabled network insight platforms that unify data sources, turning data into actionable recommendations that support deal shaping, share defense, and upsell.
- Align architecture and technology choices across domains (RAN, core, transport, cloud, security, IT) and with global Technology Strategy and BAs so MACS requirements are reflected in portfolio and roadmap decisions.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of technology strategists, network architects, and data/AI specialists, fostering an "AI-first", insight-driven culture and strong collaboration with CUs and S&T workstreams, while representing Ericsson's architecture and technology point of view with senior customer executives and in industry forums.
The skills you bring
- BS in Engineering (Telecom, Electrical, Computer Science, or related); MS and/or MBA preferred, plus 10+ years of ICT experience with a strong focus on wireless networks and technology strategy.
- Deep understanding of wireless technology and E2E network architecture, including RAN, core networks, transport/IP, and cloud/IT, with proven experience designing, evolving, or governing large-scale architectures for CSPs or comparable operators.
- Experience with AI, analytics, and data platforms for network insights, including ingestion and use of data from multiple sources, and connecting architecture and spectrum decisions to business outcomes (growth, market share, capex/opex efficiency).
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, business acumen, and financial fluency, with a track record of turning insights into growth, TAM expansion, and new offers.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management experience building multi-disciplinary teams, setting direction across multiple workstreams, developing talent, and effectively communicating technology and strategy points of view to senior customer executives.
