The Job/What You'll Do:

The Technology Procurement Manager will lead the development and execution of category strategies for technology spend — including software, hardware, cloud services, and IT professional services. Partnering with our Product Engineering team, this role is responsible for shaping the company’s approach to technology sourcing, vendor management, and cost optimization while enabling innovation and business growth. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with deep expertise in IT procurement, supplier relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our office location in either Charlotte, NC or Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities:

Category Strategy Development:

  • Develop and own the end-to-end category strategy for technology spend, including software (SaaS, enterprise applications), hardware, telecom, and cloud services, that ensures alignment with enterprise priorities

  • Develop and conduct comprehensive spend analysis, market assessments, and risk evaluations to identify sourcing opportunities and efficiencies

  • Define and build short- and long-term category roadmaps aligned with business and Product Engineering objectives

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Execution:

  • Lead and execute RFx processes, contract negotiations, and supplier selection in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and Product Engineering

  • Translate business needs into sourcing strategies that drive value, innovation, and risk mitigation while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements

 

Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:

  • Develop and manage strategic supplier partnerships to drive continuous improvement and innovation

  • Monitor supplier performance and service delivery against contractual obligations and KPIs

  • Lead regular business reviews, manage escalations, oversee renewals, and support supplier rationalization efforts

Financial & Operational Excellence:

  • Deliver measurable savings, total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements, and operational efficiencies

  • Track, analyze, and report procurement metrics, category performance, and savings realization in collaboration with Finance

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in building and executing a category strategy for a newly defined category

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all organizational levels

  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills

  •  Understanding of IT markets, including AI, cloud, software licensing, and managed services undefined

Education & Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in the field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Technology, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $115,000-$125,000.

 

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
