The Opportunity: This is a first-of-its-kind opportunity for experienced technical line managers and technology managers in India to take a pivotal role in delivering Ericsson's 5G New Radio (NR) solutions on high-performance General Purpose Processors (GPP). In this role, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams in architecting, developing, and optimizing L1 and L2 software for 5G - and help architect the foundational technology for the transition to 6G.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor high-performance engineering teams building cutting-edge 5G NR L1/L2 functionalities on GPP architectures.
- Drive technical strategy and roadmaps aligning with Ericsson's global product evolution plans.
- Own software architecture decisions considering scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with global R&D units to integrate features and align technical direction.
- Ensure software delivery meets rigorous quality, performance, and conformance requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and propose adoption aligned to product ambitions for both 5G and early 6G research.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related disciplines.
- 10+ years of telecom R&D experience with at least 3 years in a line management or technical management role.
- Proven expertise in wireless protocol stack development (L1/L2) for 4G/5G, preferably on COTS/GPP platforms.
- Excellent understanding of 3GPP 5G NR standards, including PHY/MAC/RLC layers.
- Strong skills in C/C++ development, multi-threading, and real-time systems.
- Demonstrated experience in large-scale software delivery and agile development.
Desirable Skills:
- Exposure to O-RAN architectures and virtualization/containerization frameworks.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration in telecom systems.
- Experience with hardware acceleration and heterogeneous processing.
