The Role

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a forward-thinking and technically adept ATM Technology Director to lead the strategic transformation and end-to-end management of our ATM infrastructure which spans both hardware and software systems. The Director will be instrumental in driving innovation, including the migration of our ATM platform to the cloud while embedding modern engineering practices such as DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

The Director will be tasked with ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our ATM network while aligning with evolving business goals, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. This leader will champion a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence, fostering cross-functional collaboration to deliver a next-generation ATM experience.

In this role, you will:

Provide Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the ATM technology strategy, integrating hardware and software initiatives

  • Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, IT, security, and vendor management

  • Drive innovation in ATM services, including contactless transactions, mobile integrations, and remote diagnostics

Oversee ATM Hardware Performance

  • Monitor and optimize ATM hardware performance, availability, and reliability.

  • Ensure physical security standards are met, including anti-skimming and tamper detection technologies

  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to implement proactive maintenance and performance improvements

Oversee Software & Systems

  • Direct the development, deployment, and maintenance of ATM software, including OS, transaction processing, and user interface

  • Lead efforts to manage software systems at scale, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance across a distributed ATM network

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to monitor and mitigate threats

Ensure Operational Excellence

  • Monitor ATM uptime, performance metrics, and customer satisfaction

  • Implement robust incident response and disaster recovery plans

  • Optimize cash management and replenishment strategies

Ensure Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies

  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 6+ years of experience in ATM operations

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

  • 4+ years of experience with ATM vendor technologies including NCR, Diebold, or Hyosung platforms

  • 4+ years of experience in ATM software stack, APIs, and integration with core banking systems; Proven experience managing both hardware and software components of ATM systems

  • 5+ years of experience in modern software engineering practices, including:

    • Agile and DevOps methodologies

    • CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

    • Cloud-native development and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

    • Microservices architecture and RESTful API design

    • Secure coding practices and automated testing frameworks

    • Managing distributed systems and software at scale with high availability and resilience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills

  • Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule in one of the listed locations; 3 days a week in office and 2 days a week remote
